A Beacon in Darkness

Alcatraz is, at best, a grim place: a reminder of all that is unfortunate in society. The cells and the bars made me shudder as we toured the erstwhile prison, but for me, this lone little lightbulb brightened the whole experience.

What a thrill to see the Blue Angels from Alcatraz this afternoon. Beauty and precision in a cloudless sky. Good ferry-to-ferry connections. Dinner on the waterfront at sunset. Some days work out just as they were planned...
