Evening glory...
I've been playing around with food and photography more than usual lately, in pursuit of some hopefully lucrative writing ventures... Sometimes the results just tickle me pink!
These water bottle flowers, strung from ceiling to floor in a shop window, just stopped me in my tracks as Laura and I were running errands in Berkeley today. We watched a couple of women making them, their hands cut to smithereens by the sharp plastic. They were using spray paint and heat guns to create the final product, so technically it's not recycling, but still: you have to give them points for ingenuity and beauty.

As we do every year, tonight we celebrated the Feast of the Kings with the traditional galette des rois. Someone sits under the table and assigns slices of this marzipan delectable as they are cut, and the person who finds the favor in his slice is crowned king for the day. To Jack's delight, it was finally his turn...!
