Jack and I are the perfect dinner partners: he loves the tender center of the loaf of bread and I'm partial to the crust, so things always work out between us. Usually, he just hands me the crust when he's done chomping out the middle. The other night, though, he set these two pieces down on his placemat and pointed at his heart, then the bread, then me. Of course, I melted like butter...
